• 3 children die in Bacolod fire

BACOLOD CITY: Three children, the oldest four years old, died after they were trapped inside their burning house in Barangay Felisa here on late Thursday afternoon.

The fatalities were identified as Arthur Diloy, four, his siblings Ajericho, three, and two-year-old Mary Auxencia.

Their charred bodies will be buried on Saturday as their mother who is working in Dubai was expected to come home.

Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) arson investigators said the blaze that started at about 5 p.m. was caused by an heated TV set at the victims’ bedroom. The house was made from light materials.

The BFP said the children died from suffocation as their father Ajericho Diloy Sr. locked them inside the house to report for work as barangay tanod (village watchman).

The eldest sibling who was not identified was reportedly in school and expected to come home to look after the three minor children when the incident happened.

Arthur said he brought snacks to his children before the fire broke out.

The BFP pegged the damage at P30,000.
