At least three passengers were killed and 14 others were injured after a bus crashed into a canal on the national highway in a remote village in Ilocos Norte before dawn on Saturday, police reports said.
The Ilocos Norte Provincial Police Office reported that a GMW bus driven by a certain Roel Trinidad was travelling from Cagayan to Vigan City when it met the accident at around 3 a.m. on the highway near Barangay Saoit, Burgos town Ilocos Norte.
Passengers Beverly Palma, Hilda Acobo and Jing Bacuyag were killed on the spot.
The injured passengers were taken to Bangui District Hospital for medical treatment.
The bus driver told told the police that he lost control of the bus after a stone was thrown by an unidentified man and hit the windshield of his vehicle.
