3 fugitives killed, another captured in Negros Oriental


THREE escapees were killed and another one was captured on late Sunday afternoon following a brief firefight with a composite police team that were sent to arrest them in a remote village in Tayasan town in Negros Oriental. Senior Supt. Harris Fama, chief of Negros Oriental Police Office identified the three slain fugitives as Aspacio Maximo, Richard Balasbas and James Magdasal, while captured was Rico Bandido. Fama said that prior to the encounter they received information from a concerned citizen that the four fugitives from the provincial jail were reportedly seen in the said area. The police immediately activated a manhunt team composed of personnel of the Provincial Public Safety Company and the Special Weapons and Tactics which linked up with elements of the Tayasan Municipal Police Station. The fugitives opted to open fire when they sensed that the police were closing in on them.
