3 hurt as vehicle cuts UNA convoy in Baguio

Baguio City: Three persons who were injured in an accident while crossing the road during a motorcade by Vice President Jejomar Binay’s camp on Sunday afternoon are now reportedly in stable condition.

The Baguio City Police’s Traffic Unit reported that the victims were accidentally bumped by a Toyota Fortuner pick-up along the junction of Shanum street and Otek street.

The three were crossing the street on an unmarked crosswalk along Otek street when they were hit by the vehicle which came from the direction of Kisad road, according to the report signed by Police Supt. Leon Pandagos Talleo, of Baguio’s traffic unit.

The victims – Rogiel Laviaga, 19, of Dagupan City and two others who are minors – were initially treated by responding personnel from Baguio City Emergency Medical Service and were later brought to Baguio City General Hospital and Medical Center for further medical intervention.

In a statement issued on Monday, Binay’s camp said that he extended assistance for the hospitalization of the victims.

The report said the Fortuner cut through the Vice President’s convoy and hit the victims.

The driver, who was identified as Ronnie Dumansi, was subjected to an alcoholic breath test and was held at traffic unit’s office.
