Three people were killed while two others were hurt after still unidentified suspects fired an M-79 grenade launcher at the UCCP church in Cabanog St., Barangay Poblacion, Pikit, Cotabato Wednesday evening.
The incident took place around 7:40 p.m., North Cotabato Police Office spokesperson Senior Insp. Jojet Nicolas said.
He identified the fatalities as Gina Cabilona, 39, teacher; Virginia Manolid, 63, housekeeper and Felomina Ferolina, 54, nurse.
While the wounded were identified as businessman Jeremias Dandan, 60 and Jerome Dandan, 28.
All of the victims are residents of Poblacion, Pikit, North Cotabato, Nicolas said.
The five were all attending a mid-week prayer headed by Pastor Jerry Sanchez when a still unidentified suspect fired an M-79 grenade at the congregation severely wounding all five victims.
Nicolas said Ferolina died upon arrival at the Midsayap Community Hospital while Cabilona and Manolid died while being attended to at the Kidapawan Doctors Hospital.
Investigations are still ongoing to determine the motive and identity of the attackers.
