DAVAO CITY: THE Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City on Friday announced that it has discharged the female nurse suspected of being infected with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Corona virus (Mers-Cov), after laboratory tests results showed that she was negative of the dreaded virus.
Also released were the nurse’s husband and their niece.
SPMC chief of clinics Dr. Ricardo Audan said he readily ordered the discharge of the three patients who were admitted to the isolation building of the hospital, after the results came in and showed that they were negative of the virus.
Following the results, the Department of Health also declared that the country remains free from MERS-COV.
The DOH said what happened was just ‘rumor surveillance’ and that the nurse was negative for MERS-COV from the beginning.
It confirmed that a hospital in Saudi Arabia has already cleared the nurse.
