3 MMDA personnel axed for pilferage


THREE erring employees of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) were axed for selling pilfered diesel fuel.

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino on Tuesday ordered the termination of the three personnel identified as Roderick Gutang, Luis Bitangcol and John Tuplado.

In a memo addressed to the three suspects, Tolentino said their job order contract is terminated.

They were arrested in Manda­luyong City for selling diesel from their mechanical sweeper truck to jeepney drivers.

The three are from MMDA Parkway and Clearing Operations Group, working as street sweepers of the agency since 2008.

Police report indicated that the MMDA personnel were caught in the act selling 30 liters of diesel stolen from their mechanical sweeper truck to some jeepney drivers at EDSA-Crossing at about 4 a.m.
