Three Philippine corporations made it to this year’s list of the best managed companies in Asia as selected by Hong-Kong-based print and online business magazine FinanceAsia, awards ceremony host Maybank announced.
Property developer Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) was named Best Real Estate Company in Asia, power generator and distributor Aboitiz Power received the Best Power Company in Asia award, while food and beverage giant Universal Robina Corporation (URC) received recognition for being the Best Consumer Company in the region.
ALI also bagged the Philippines’ Best in Investor Relations title, while Ayala Corp. was lauded as the country’s Best Managed Public Company and Best in Corporate Governance.
Several other Philippine companies also received recognition, such as the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) as the Most Committed to Paying Good Dividends, Concepcion Industrial Corporation as Best Small Cap Company, and D& L Industries as the Best Mid-Cap Company.
Two Filipino businessmen were recognized for their efforts in running their respective companies namely URC’s Lance Gokongwei as the Philippines’ Best CEO, and ALI’s Jaime Ysmael as Best CFO.
FinanceAsia annually surveys more than 250 portfolio managers and analysts to determine which companies are the best managed, which have the best senior executives and the best policies on dividend payments and other corporate programs.
Maybank ATR Kim Eng Capital Partners Inc., hosted the awards dinner in Manila for the seventh year in a row on June 4 to recognize the best-performing companies from investors’ perspective in the Asian region.
