AUTHORITIES on Monday discovered a 13-year-old boy who was hogtied, mauled and burned under a bridge in BF Homes, Parañaque City (Metro Manila).
Senior Supt. Ariel Andrade, chief of Parañaque City Police, said village officials and a security guard found the victim crying and shouting while he was on fire.
He was immediately brought to the Philippine General Hospital and is currently being treated for multiple head and body injuries, and third degree burns in the face, chest, legs and feet.
The suspects, aged 12, 13 and 19, were arrested Monday. They are allegedly members of the victim’s rival gang who were seeking revenge.
Investigation revealed that at around 2 a.m., members of Batang Tawid chanced upon the victim who is from Batang Phase One on Skyway-Sucat Exit.
The suspects took the victim under the Skyway bridge. There, the trio beat him up, tied his hands and feet and stuffed a sock in his mouth before covering him with dried leaves and cardboard and setting him on fire.
Police disclosed that just last week, a gang war erupted between the two groups in Sucat where Batang Phase One ended up beating the 19-year-old suspect.
He is now under police custody and will be charged with frustrated murder. The two minors were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
