CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union: A leader of a robbery gang and two of his companions were arrested after they were caught red-handed with their loot, composed of 82 cellular phones, 10 assorted tablets, 11 wristwatches, four digital cameras, and four firearms found during the raid conducted in their hideout in Barangay Central West, Bauang, La Union Friday night. Senior Superintendent Angeles Genorga Jr., regional chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-1) identified the suspects as Jeffrey Tudla, the leader of the group, and his companions Nicky Jun Javier and Glenford Belmonte. Genorga said the suspects were caught in the act while having a pot session. Six opened sachets of shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia were found in their possession. The arrest of the suspects is a joint operation of CIDG and the La Union police while the search warrant was issued by Judge Romeo Perez of the Bauang municipal trial court. The suspects are now detained for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act and RA 1059, the law on illegal possession of firearms.
