KIDAPAWAN CITY: At least three people were wounded in a fresh blast in Matalam town of North Cotabato on Tuesday, a few days after an attack in the same town that injured another five people, authorities said.
Supt. Bernard Tayong, spokesman for the North Cotabato provincial police, said unidentified suspects hurled a hand grenade around 1:25 a.m. at Collado Funeral Home near a rotunda in Matalam.
Tayong added that three of the victims—Jeffrey Onoc, 23, Bernie Cristobal, 34, and Benito Samillano, 49—sustained slight injuries.
He said the victims were at their relatives’ wake when the attack took place.
Injured in last Friday’s grenade attack were Macmod Kanakan, Dandan Alam, Datu Dilangalen, Gerardo Peralta Jr. and Sharon Diaz.
Also, late last month, another grenade was thrown and exploded at a house in Patadon, a border village of Matalam and this city, but no one was hurt.
Authorities are investigating the incidents.
