AT least 300,000 jobs are available for Filipinos overseas, many of them in the Middle East, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello 3rd said in addition to the jobs abroad, there are also more than 3,000 new vacancies in the local employment industry.
“There are lots of [overseas]job opportunities. You’re talking of not less than 300,000, majority of them here in Asia, especially in the Middle East,” Bello said.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, he added, needs construction workers based on the job orders with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
Other countries in search for Filipino workers are Taiwan, South Korea, Germany, and Japan.
“We have government to government arrangement with Japan for nurses and caregivers, not to mention the high demand for our seafarers, who are the most preferred in the world,” Bello said.
Libya is also asking for Filipino construction workers but because of the security situation there, the Department of Foreign Affairs must first clear any deployment to that country.
