31 DEAD, 123 HURT IN HOLY WEEK

Thirty-one people died and 123 others were injured in at least 50 Holy Week-related incidents in various regions of the country. The National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Monday reported that of the 50 recorded incidents, 19 were vehicular accidents, 16 were swimming-related, seven were fire incidents, two were vehicle fire incidents, two were hazardous materials incidents, two were flooding incidents, one a maritime incident and one a shooting incident. Of the 31 who perished, 16 died from drowning, 11 from vehicular accidents, one in a shooting incident and one from a fire accident. All 16 who drowned died either on Good Friday and on Black Saturday.
