Zsa Zsa Padilla takes Resorts World Manila’s NPAT stage for anniversary concert
After enjoying a storied career in show business—from successful forays in music recording, concert performances, television hosting, and various roles in both independent and major motion pictures—Zsa Zsa Padilla reaches another career milestone this 2015.
Come July 31, Philippine music’s “Divine Diva” will hold a special anniversary concert entitled Beginnings at Resorts World Manila’s (RWM) award-winning Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT) to celebrate her 32nd year in the industry.
Named after her third album with PolyEast Records, “Beginnings” will see Zsa Zsa at her element performing delightful, easy listening songs in front of her dear fans.
“The last studio album I did was personal to me. Although it was filled with original OPM songs, I had just lost a great love. So when I listen to it now, I find it a bit sad and yes, at times angry. I was still grieving and I never thought it would be possible to love again,” Zsa Zsa shared about her previous album Palagi, also released under PolyEast Records back in 2013. It can be recalled that her long time partner, Comedy King Dolphy, had died the year before.
Able to find love anew, Zsa Zsa is once again driven to produce chart-topping hits with recent releases under her latest album.
“Never stop believing in the power of second chances. Thank you for being with me in this new chapter of my life,” she said at her press conference this week at RWM.
Sharing the NPAT stage with Zsa Zsa on July 31 will be daughter Karylle and concert king Martin Nievera, marking the first time these three music greats will perform together.
The concert will feature covers of songs such as “Quando, Quando, Quando,” “Quizáz, Quizáz, Quizáz,” “All of Me’ by John Legend,” “If I Could” by Regina Belle, “One Hello” by Randy Crawford, and “We’ve Only Just Begun,” and “You” by The Carpenters, as well as OPM and foreign medleys. Of course, the Divine Diva’s very own hits will serve as the highlights of the show, namely “Hiram,” “Kahit Na,” and “Ikaw Lamang,” among others, all performed with a trio of backup vocals together with a 13-piece big band helmed by esteemed musical director Homer Flores.
Since her singing debut back in 1983, Zsa Zsa has produced a string of hits with a voice that has stood as one of the pillars of Filipino music for the past three decades. Today, she remains on top of her game looking forward to more success in music and in life.
