LA TRINIDAD, Benguet: The Abra chapter of the Cordillera People’s Alliance, Kakailian Salakniban Tay Amin a Nagtaudan (KASTAN CPA-Abra) announced that the celebration of the 32nd Cordillera Day is all set on April 25 in Dolores town. Villamor Pati, KASTAN chairperson, said this year’s Cordillera Day is geared towards challenging national and local candidates to respond to people’s agenda on food security, job creation, decent livelihood and wage, human rights, environmental protection and clean governance. Dolores town is one of the sterling symbols of the victory of the Cordillera people’s resistance during the dark period of Martial Law. The native Tingguian people of Abra in linkage with other advocacy groups were able to stop the operation of Cellophil Resources Corporation, a logging company owned by Marcos crony Herminio Disini. “We must learn from our past so that the future generations will treasure and protect what we have fought for before,” Pati said.
