The Boracay Tourists Action Center (BTAC) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has reported that they had arrested 38 foreigners for various offenses in 2013.
Police Officer 3 Christopher Mendoza, information officer of the BTAC, said the crimes committed involved shoplifting, unpaid bills, direct assault, concubinage, violation of Republic Act 9262, illegal gambling, estafa, resistance and disobedience, physical injury, alarm and scandal.
“One of them is Peter Khill, a Swedish charged with three counts of direct assault for kicking, punching and biting three policemen,” Mendoza said.
The BTAC also neutralized 21 wanted persons, including Marcel Duschletta, another Swedish, and Koreans Kim Jin Soo and Park Hee Soon.
At least 22 operations against illegal drugs in Boracay were also conducted, headed by the Aklan Provincial Intelligence Operatives, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, among others.
Because of the active involvement of the BTAC in promoting peace and order in this resort island, Mendoza said the Boracay police continues to receive recognitions and citations, including the letter of commendation from the US Embassy in Manila.
“Some of our police personnel also received awards and citations,” he added.
