390 children see hope after last year’s Zambo clashes

ZAMBOANGA CITY: While thousands of children are still recovering from the September 2013 fierce battle between soldiers and separatist rebels here, around 390 children aged 3 to 12 completed the weeklong Vacation Bible School (VBS) that focuses on hope and forgiveness.

In the closing program, the message of 11-year-old Kayell Ann Lim caught the attention of the parents and guests when she said that one of the most important lessons she learned in the Vacation Bible School was to treat enemies with kindness which according to her was a tough challenge.

“The best revenge towards our enemies is forgiveness because God taught us to love our enemies and if we do, our reward shall be great,” said Lim.

Dubbed as Kingdom Quest, the children dressed themselves as knight in the closing ceremony to symbolize their commitment to serve as a young knight of the Lord Jesus. The kids also pledged to acknowledge Jesus as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Senior Pastor Ira Lee Rosa–lita of Zamboanga City Evangelical Church, the guest of honor, told the audience to seek God’s kingdom and His righteousness, stressing the importance of children’s obedience to their parents.
