3rd grenade attack hits Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY: Another grenade attack hit this city, exploding in front of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Maguindanao office on Wednesday afternoon. It was the 3rd grenade attack on a government office since Saturday. Senior Insp. Roel Zafra, city police office spokesman, said an M26-A9 fragmentation hand grenade fell into a drainage canal and went off. No one was reported hurt. Police said two motorcycle-riding men lobbed the grenade. On Saturday night, a smoke grenade was lobbed at the Traffic Management Unit office beside Police Station 1 detention cell, meant to cover detainees to escape the jampacked jail. On Monday, another grenade was thrown at the roof of Police Station 2 on Sinsuat and Rabago avenues. It did not explode.
