A 4.5-magnitude earthquake jolted the province of Pangasinan late Wednesday evening which was also felt in Metro Manila, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In its bulletin, the agency said the tremor occurred at 10:46 p.m. with its epicenter traced four kilometers southwest of San Quintin in Pangasinan.
The tremor was also felt at Intensity 3 in Caloocan City; Mandaluyong City; Dagupan City; Baguio City; and Binalonan, Pangasinan.
Phivolcs described an Intensity 3 earthquake as weak, but it is felt by many people indoors, especially those in upper floors of buildings.
It further noted that a vibration like the “passing of a light truck” would be felt, while water containers oscillate and hanging objects swing moderately.
Intensity 2 was felt in Quezon City; Pasig City; Taguig City; Pasay City; Gapan City; Cabanatuan City; Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija; Baler Aurora; and Palayan City while Intensity 1 was felt in Lucban, Quezon.
Phivolcs said the temblor, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 29 kilometers.
