THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported on Tuesday a magnitude 4.8 earthquake in Mindoro Occidental. Phivolcs said the Intensity 4 quake occurred at 1:18 a.m. with its epicenter traced at 15 kilometers southeast of Sablayan town. The tremor, which was tectonic in origin, had a shallow depth of 46 kilometers. No casualty or damage was reported. Meanwhile, a 3.4 magnitude 3.4 quake hit Cagayan at 4:43 a.m., with its epicenter traced 26 kilometers northwest of Claveria.
