Four Filipino masters are tied for seventh place with 16 other players in the Indonesia Open Chess Championship 2013 in Jakarta.
Grandmasters Oliver Barbosa, John Paul Gomez and Darwin Laylo, and International Master Rolando Nolte scored 3.5 each after five rounds.
Barbosa defeated FIDE Master (FM) Anjas Novita of Indonesia, Gomez outclassed compatriot FM Paulo Bersamina, Laylo split the point with GM Igarza Renier Vazquez of Spain, and Nolte outplayed IM Muhammad Situru of Indonesia.
Untitled Emmanuel Emperado has three points while Bersamina, GM Richard Bitoon, and IMs Emmanuel Senador and Oliver Dimakiling are in a group of 2.5-pointers.
GM Mark Paragua and IM Kim Steven Yap got two points each in the 11-round tournament.
GM Aleksey Dreev of Russia is in solo lead with 4.5 points, while GMs Alexander Moiseenko of Ukraine, Ivan Ivanisevic of Serbia, Hoang Thanh Trang of Hungary, Surya Shekhar Ganguly of India and Sandro Mareco of Argentina are in a logjam for second with four points each.
