SOME areas in at least four provinces in Luzon will be experiencing long brownout this weekend.
According to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), a power outage that could last for 10 hours will be experienced in Isabela, Ifugao, Quirino and Zambales because of scheduled shutdown of some of its transmission facilities.
In Zambales, the power interruption will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and will affect the areas of Iba, Palauig, Masinloc, Candelaria and Sta Cruz.
This is reportedly to facilitate the annual preventive maintenance of 50MVA transformer at the Botolan Substation and to allow the transmission line works in the Botolan-Candelaria 69kVline.
Power interruptions are also scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday in parts of Isabela, Ifugao and in Quirino provinces with the NGCP saying both Isabela and Quirino may experience an outage lasting from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
The affected areas include Santiago City, Cordon, Ramon, and parts of San Isidro in Isabela. The entire Quirino Electric Cooperative franchise area will also be affected.
The NGCP said this is due to the annual preventive maintenance and testing of the 40-megavolt and 15-megavolt transformers, and replacement of selected lines along the Santiago-Aglipay 69-kilovolt line.
On Thursday, parts of Isabela Electric Cooperative 1 and the Ifugao Electric Cooperative may have power interruptions from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The affected areas will include Cauayan City, Alicia, Echague, Jones, San Agustin, San Guillermo, Angadanan, Luna, Cabatuan, and San Mateo, Isabela; and Aguinaldo and Alfonso Lista, Ifugao.
The power outage is because of the annual preventive maintenance and testing of the 50-megavolt and 15-megavolt transformers at NGCP’s Santiago and Cauayan substation. It will also allow the NGCP to do the replacement of selected lines along the Santiago-Cauayan 69-kilovolt line.
NGCP’s customers and the general public are advised to take the necessary preparations and precautions for this scheduled interruption.
