FOUR moderate earthquakes jolted some parts of Luzon and Mindanao on Monday morning.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that the first quake, a magnitude 3.1, occurred at 6:58 a.m. Its epicenter was traced some eight kilometers northeast of Carmen in North Cotabato.
A magnitude 3.5 tremor was felt at 8:50 a.m. in Surigao del Sur province. The quake’s epicenter was located northeast of Tandag and had a depth of four kilometers (kms).
An intensity three quake was also felt in Tandag, Surigao Del Sur while intensity two was felt in Claver, Surigao Del Norte province; Cagwait and Cortes, Surigao Del Sur province.
Philvocs said at 9:12 a.m., a magnitude 3.0 quake shook Benguet Province. The tremor had a depth of 13kms. An intensity three tremor was also felt in la Trinidad, Benguet province.
Davao Oriental was also shaken by a magnitude 3.3 quake at 10:06 a.m. The state seismology bureau said no damage to property or casualties were reported and that aftershocks are not expected.
