COTABATO CITY: A 4-year-old boy was hit by stray bullet during the New Year’s Eve revelry Wednesday night, hospital records showed.
Tarhata, 41 of Barangay Tukananes, Cotabato City, rushed her child to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center after he was hit by a bullet from nowhere.
She said the family was about to sleep at past 10 p.m. when she heard a loud thud on the roof followed by a loud cry of her child.
”When I checked, I found his left eye bleeding profusely, we also found a small hole in the roof,” she told reporters.
Two other children were rushed to the CRMC due to minor injury caused by dangerous ‘piccolo’ firecracker. They were both outpatient.
Police are still checking on the firearms of its service personnel to determine whether they were used or not during the New Year’s revelry.
In Region 12, the Department of Health recorded 64 cases of firecracker related injury from December 21 to January 1, according to Jenny Ventura, DOH-12 focal person on ‘Iwas Paputok’ campaign. PNA
