A FOUR-YEAR old girl was sexually assaulted and murdered by a jobless teenager on Tuesday afternoon in a remote village in Tubod town in Surigao del Norte province, police reports said on Wednesday.
Reports reaching the PNP national operations center in Camp Crame identified the victim as Kimberly Fidelis Kimbo, 4, and a resident of Sitio Pingaping, Barangay Motorpool, Tubod town in Surigao del. Police also identified the suspect as Joel Hardinel, 19, and a native of Barangay Mahayahay, Kitcharao town in Agusan del Norte.
Initial investigation revealed that the victim’s mother reported to the police that his four-year old daughter went missing several hours after leaving their house at about 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
The reports said the young girl was found dead at about 1 p.m. within the vicinity of Barangay Motropool of the said town. Police reported that the little girl was found with a wooden stick pierced on her neck.
Witnesses said that the victim was last seen accompanied by the suspect when she left her house before she was found dead on Tuesday afternoon, the reports said.
The reports added that police immediately arrested the suspect and is now detained at the Tubod Municipal Police Station for investigation and proper disposition. ANTHONY VARGAS
