Over 40 families lost their homes on Monday evening in a fire that broke out and spread to a residential area in Barangay Sun Valley, Parañaque City (Metro Manila).
The fire that began around 10 p.m. quickly razed about 20 houses on Culsidac Compound.
It had reached second alarm before being put out at 12 midnight.
The Parañaque fire department said the fire started at Lydia Escare’s house, which was also used as a gadget repair shop.
Responding firemen said they had a hard time in putting out the fire because of narrow passageways leading to the houses.
The blaze, they added, spread quickly because most of the houses were made from wood and light materials and were built close to each other.
While no one was reported injured, the fire destroyed some P100,000 in property.
Affected residents are now staying at the village hall.
