4,000 displaced families in Sulu get medical aid, relief goods


COTABATO CITY: Some 4,000 families affected by the massive military operations and all-out offensives against members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Sulu received relief goods and medical assistance from the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and ARMM – Humanitarian Emergency Action and Response Team (ARMM-HEART). As of September 5, evacuees families were from the town of Patikul – 1,122; Maimbung – 1,321; Indanan – 400 families; Parang – 1,113; and Panamao – 29.The government has intensified its operations against the Abu Sayyaf in Sulu following orders from President Rodrigo Duterte. The Philippine Navy has also deployed its largest vessel to lead the naval blockade against the terrorists who were reported as planning an escape route via the Sulu Sea.
