• 5.2-magnitude quake strikes SW Japan; no tsunami warning


    TOKYO: A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of southwestern Japan late Tuesday but there was no tsunami warning, Japanese and US authorities said. The quake was at a depth of 51 kilometers (32 miles) about 15 kilometers south east of the town of Saiki, at 11:27 p.m. (1427 GMT), the US Geological Survey said. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage according to public broadcaster NHK. The Japan Meteorological Agency did not issue a tsunami warning.
