• 5 CHINESE TRADERS ARRESTED FOR SELLING SUBSTANDARD STEEL PRODUCTS

    THE Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Friday filed criminal charges against five Chinese for selling substandard steel products in Laguna. Found to have violated R.A. 7394 otherwise known as the Consumer Act of the Philippines were Alex Santos Go, Andrew Santos Go, Jason Velasquez Ang, James Velasquez Ang and Jintuan Wu. They were among 11 arrested by authorities during a raid of South Luzon Steel Industrial Corp. warehouse owned by one of the Chinese in Barangay Bantic, Cabuyao. CIDG chief Director Benjamin Magalong said P37 million worth of substandard construction steel products were found in the warehouse. The Chinese were released after posting P12, 000 bail. Police said Jason Velaquez Ang and Andrew Go were co-owners of the Steeltower Steel which was raided by the police on suspicion that it was selling and distributing substandard steel products.
