FIVE passengers, including a five-month pregnant woman, died while 25 others were injured when a Victory Liner bus rammed into a concrete barrier along the zigzag portion of the Maharlika Highway, in Putlan, Carranglan, Nueva Ecija on Tuesday. Carranglan police chief, Senior Insp. Adriano Gabriel, identified the fatalities as Liezeth Gollayan, pregnant from Tansan, Cabagan, Isabela; Roberto Riovellon, Valentine Abiente, both of San Fernando, Pampanga; and Cecile Cabusnao. Another passenger who was yet to be identified is wearing a pair of violet trousers. Driver Ryan Manuel, 38, said he lost control of the Manila-bound bus from Tuguegarao in Cagayan, at about 2 a.m., while negotiating a downward part of the highway causing the bus to ram the rock barriers. The victims were pinned down and thrown out when the bus that almost turned turtle.
