BALANGA CITY: Bataan Rep. Enrique “Tet” Garcia and four of his children are running for different positions in the province in the May 2016 elections, based on their pronouncements.
The four children are Bataan Gov. Albert Garcia, Balanga City Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia 3rd, Dinalupihan Mayor Gila Garcia and financial analyst Francis Garcia.
The representative is considering a reelection bid in the province’s second district or as vice-governor of Albert, who is seeking reelection.
Jose Enrique, who is on his last term as city mayor, will be fielded either as vice mayor of Balanga or as congressman of the second district. Gila will run for reelection as mayor of Dinalupihan.
Political neophyte Francis, a member of the Board of Directors of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, is groomed for the mayorship of Balanga City.
All of them belong to the National Unity Party (NUP).
The political opponents of the Garcias have still to announce their plans. Liberal Party (LP) member Felicito Payumo, former chairman of the Bases Conversion Development Authority, may choose to run for mayor of Dinalupihan town but this remains to be seen during the filing of Certificates of Candidacy next week.
In the congressional race in the first district, Geraldine Roman of the LP wants to replace her mother Rep. Herminia Roman who is on her last term. Geraldine will be the first transgender to be seeking an elective post in Bataan.
