• 5 hurt in Cotabato grenade attack


    KIDAPAWAN CITY: Five persons were injured when an unidentified suspect lobbed a grenade in Carmen, North Cotabato on Friday night. Police identified the victims as David Orteza, Joel Aragon, Henry Nobleza, Darwin Ortiz and a child, all from the nearby town of Kabacan. Carmen Chief of Police, Chief Insp. Julius Malcontento, told reporters that the explosion occurred at a house in Purok Pag-asa in the village of Gen. Luna at about 6:45 p.m. while the victims were having dinner. Responding policemen chased the lone attacker who escaped towards an unknown direction. Land dispute was being eyed as the motive in the grenade attack, Malcontento added.
