FIVE persons were killed and four were wounded in an encounter between the New Peoples Army (NPA) and Philippine Army in Oriental Mindoro. Members of Bravo Company of the Army’s 4th Infantry Battalion (IB), led by Lt. Relativo were conducting a combat patrol at Sitio Mungos, Barangay Hagan in Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro when they encountered the rebels. Capt. Allan Apara, Operations officer of 4IB identified those killed as Crister Gadon, Erning Malubay, Rolando Pulhencio Jr. and Gary Galindez, all CAFGU members, and a soldier identified only Bernal. Wounded were Argie Capucao, Mark Leo Nacion, Meddy Manasan Gaban and Jesie Francisco, all members of the CAFGU.
