KIDAPAWAN CITY: Five alleged notorious drug dealers and members of a gun-for-hire group were killed, while four others were arrested in an anti-drug operation in Kabacan, North Cotabato, early on Thursday morning.
Authorities were about to serve search warrants in Sitio Sugod at about 4 a.m. when a volley of gunfire greeted them from the house of Odin Udtig Acoy, alias “Kumander Butterfly.” Troops retaliated, killing Acoy, including his cohort identified as Ali Araneta Salim, Gardo Kalma Tapa, Valencia Madaliday Guiabalael and Abdul Udtig Acoy.
The North Cotabato Police provincial director, Senior Supt. Emmanuel Peralta, named the arrested suspects as Esmael, Mamadatu and Norodin, all surnamed Musa Abdul, and Solaw Sawa Talidtig. Recovered from the suspects’ hideout were two caliber 45 pistols, two hand grenades, two caliber 38 revolvers, several sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia. Police tagged the suspects as members of a gun-for-hire group.
