• 5 killed in Bacolod City fire


    A SEPTUAGENARIAN and her four grandchildren perished in a fire that broke out before noon Tuesday in Bacolod City.

    Fire Office 3 Mark Stephen Trajeras of the Bureau of Fire Protection identified the fatalities as Norma Pido, 76, and her grandchildren Rashed, 10, Shanel, 7, Jomari, 6, all surnamed Gally, and their cousin Katrina Pido, 10.

    The five victims had been trapped inside their house in Purok Bulgan, Barangay 1, Bacolod City, when the fire broke out around 10 a.m.

    Trajeras said arson investigators are yet to determine the actual cause of the fire but he said it might have been sparked by an electrical problem.

    The fire also razed six other houses.

    It was placed under control around 10:40 a.m.
