A professional women’s group dedicated to the culture of excellence, Excelle, will honor five alumni of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) to highlight the notion that “there is hope for the Philippines.”
Excelle will honor the TOSP alumni by holding a round table with them on November 15, 2013 starting 12 noon at the Tower Club, 33/F Philamlife Tower, Paseo de Roxas in Makati City.
The honorees are:
Sitti Norhanie Lao, TOSP Batch 2011, BA English, Mindanao State University. A trailblazer and gamechanger, she has challenged tradition and set an inspiring example other Muslim women in Mindanao.
Angelita Bombarda, TOSP Batch 2012, BS Psychology, De La Salle University. A scholar and fellow of various journalism programs, including those from The New York Times and the Singapore Management University, recently won the Palanca Memorial Award with her essay, “On Being Filipino: A Citizen of the World.”
John Michael Lava, TOSP Batch 2013, BS Accountancy, Far Eastern University.
Through Michael’s landmark leadership, his community, which was under the threat of demolition, succeeded in negotiating peacefully with the Quezon City-Central Business District project, proving that urbanization does not have to come at the cost of turmoil.
Aries John Pineda, TOSP Batch 2013, BS in Business Administration, Baliuag University. Aries is a volunteer teacher in the Computer Literacy Program of Tesda and DepEd.
Delfin Stephen Villafuerta, TOSP Batch 2013, BS Management Engineering Ateneo de Manila University. Delfin opted to work in a public school instead of the private sector for love of country. He wishes to apply the power of education over the students’ young minds and hearts to form them into patriotic citizens devoted to serving the nation.
