Five of 22 inmates that busted out of the Valencia City Jail Wednesday night have been recaptured, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Thursday.
PNP Public Information chief, Sr. Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac identified the recaptured inmates as Albert Espinosa; Roel Llacuna; Rogelio Tayros, Jamal Sambarani and Reymart Balmes.
Llacuna, Espinosa and Balmes were recaptured following a manhunt while the Tayros and Sambarani, surrendered to authorities, Sindac said.
Still at large were Khalid Anggao, Ronald Ga, Teofisto Villamero; Jorem Barros, Carlos Lubos, , Rodney Trinidad, Name Usop, Kairama Usop, Dionesio Daulong, Macxie Macarampat, Jeffrey Odagon, Ronnie Recibdo, Abdul Nasser Roquero, Jenie Armecin, Marlon Canoy and Papaw Sarip.
The inmates bolted at around 3:30 pm. after overpowering the jail guards and taking several weapons from the armory.
The reports said the inmates had just attended the Alternative Learning School (ALS) inside the facility. After the class they slipped into the armory and took five 9mm pistols and six shotguns.
The inmates then overpowered the guards and escaped by climbing the back wall, the reports said.
