BACOOR: City Mayor Strike Revilla on Friday administered the oath of office of 500 residents as Philippine National Police civilian volunteers at the jampacked ABC-Association of Barangays auditorium in Talaba, Bacoor City. Also present to welcome the unarmed crime fighters were Cavite Provincial Director Joselito Esquivel Jr., Bacoor City chief Police Superitendent Rommel Estolano, Provincial Intelligence Branch Chief Romano Cardino and stakeholders (village members, senior citizens, tricycle drivers, security guards and vendors). The PNP will issue identification cards to the civilian volunteers. Citing the case of media personality Robelita Garcia, who was killed inside her house a month ago, Revilla called on the volunteers to cooperate with police to help fight crimes in Bacoor. Esquivel, for his part, lauded the volunteers for their eagerness to help fight crime. He said the PNP civilian volunteers will serve as eyes and ears of the police in their barangays. Cavite only has 2,000 police officers looking after 3.8 million people.
