At least 50,000 Filipino couples will renew their marriage vows in Luneta Park on Saturday in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record, said organizers Couples for Christ (CFC).
CFC executive director, George Campos said since the program would last for two hours, he was optimistic that they will be able to break the record of the United Kingdom of more than 1,400 couples who renewed their vows in February this year.
The mass renewal of vows at the Luneta will be celebrated by at least five bishops.
Couples who wish to participate must submit a photocopy of their marriage certificates, Campos said, adding that they will be allowed to wear casual attire.
“At least 150, 000 people will be here. That is about 40,000 to 50,000 couples,” Campos told the weekly forum of the Catholic Media Network (CMN) in Intramuros, Manila.
“Our [CFC] members in Metro Manila [alone]are about 120,000. We are confident that we will be able to meet the needed number of couples who will renew their vows,” he added.
