52 distressed OFWs back from Saudi Arabia, Syria

Fifty-two distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) returned home on Saturday afternoon from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Syria after they availed of the government’s repatriation program.

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) personnel based at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) said 25 of them came in from Riyadh and 27 were from Syria.

The OFWs flew in via Etihad Airways flights EY-424 which arrived at the NAIA Terminal 1 at 2:51 p.m. after a direct flight from Abu Dhabi.

The government, through OWWA, continues to support the return of undocumented OFWs to the country as most of them experienced ill treatment from their former employers. PNA
