60-year-old acetylene gang member falls

BAGUIO CITY: An acetylene gang member, long hunted by authorities, was collared in his hideout in Rosario town, La Union province Friday afternoon. Nabbed was William Pangwi Sibaen, a native of Bauko, Mt. Province. Criminal Investigation and Detection Group North Central Luzon Chief Carlos Lictag used a Zambales town court order to arrest Sibaen for his alleged involvement in a bank heist four years ago. Lictag said they were able to trace Sibaen after a gang member, caught in Zambales in October last year, confessed that the sexagenarian was already working as a hollow block maker. Police Senior Supt. Jimmy Catanes said Sibaen belongs to the ‘Julio Bedking Group,’ a dreaded acetylene gang, which usually victimizes pawnshops and banks in Luzon, Vizayas and Mindanao. The police earlier collared gang leader Julio Bedking for a string of cases. At least 30 members are being tracked down.
