600 street sweepers clean up after devotees

Hundreds of street sweepers were deployed by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) along the ‘Traslacion’ route.

They were instructed to clean up the streets right after the procession had passed the area.

So far, six truckloads of garbage had been collected at the Quirino Grandstand and the portion of Roxas Boulevard fronting Rizal Park.

Three garbage trucks are also following the procession. The MMDA said 600 of its personnel were deployed. Dozens of them, armed with brooms, have been working since 6 a.m.
