• 6,000 Iloilo voters dropped from list

ILOILO CITY: A total of 6,716 old registered voters in this city who failed to activate their registration through the mandated biometrics data are going to be removed from the registered voters list and could not vote in the May 9, 2016 Presidential and local elections.

The city has a total of 246,171 registered voters and those without biometrics data will be deducted from the list and not participate in the next year’s elections.

From the 8,571 active but old registered voters, only 1,855 voters heed the call for validation and the remaining voters will have to register after the national elections to be able to participate in the barangay elections slated in October 2016.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) supervisor Reinier Layson said the province of Iloilo is suffering the same fate as more than 30,000 registered voters maybe disenfranchised without the biometrics data.
