610 houses eyed for Yolanda victims


ILOILO CITY: The Department of Social Welfare and Development regional office here is pushing for completion of 610 houses for Yolanda victims in northern Iloilo and three towns in Capiz province. DSWD regional information officer May Rago-Castillo disclosed that Reg. Dir. Evelyn Macapobre personally turned over some finished housing units to beneficiaries in Barangay Tacas, in Pontevedra town in Capiz last week. The houses are targeted to be completed by March 2015 in a move to give the families decent and sturdy houses against the typhoons and other calamities. The houses are to be constructed under the Post Yolanda Support for Safer Homes and Settlements project with the stewardship of the United Nations Habitat and in partnership with the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council, Government of Japan, Social Housing Finance Corporation and DSWD.
