651 US postal money orders seized


BUREAU of Customs personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Wednesday seized two mail parcels containing United States postal money orders amounting to US$631,470. Customs District III Collector Edgar Macabeo said the parcel of 651 pieces of postal money orders have an equal value of US$970, and with a total value of US$631,470, does not bear any names or addresses on the money orders. Both parcels were falsely declared as “letters and cards” and were mailed via FedEx courier delivery service by Kokou Charles Adadpo last October 22 this year from Togo, a country located in West Africa. The shipment which was consigned to John Sacada Matters and David Matter, both of Unit 710 Ferrous Bel Air Tower in Makati City, arrived in Manila on November 3. Customs authorities are investigating if both consignees are legitimate.
