• 7 CAAP workers dismissed for drug use

Seven employees of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) were ordered dismissed after they were found positive of narcotics as part of the agency’s campaign for a drug-free workplace. CAAP director general William K. Hotchkiss 3rd has ordered the termination of the six contractual workers detailed at Zamboanga International Airport, and an investigation for disciplinary action against a regular employee who were all found positive for the use of shabu, in random drug testing conducted on May 10 by the agency’s Office of the Flight Surgeon and Aviation Medicine (OFSAM). At least 12 workers were previously meted disciplinary action for the use of shabu and marijuana during random drug testings conducted from January to April in all the 41 commercial airports nationwide managed by the CAAP.
