DAVAO CITY: Seven drug suspects were killed on Wednesday when authorities conducted simultaneous anti-narcotics operations in different parts of the city.
The operations yielded P2.9 million worth of shabu, 37 grams of Marijuana leaves, drug paraphernalia, 10 assort-ed types of ammunitions, 13 high-powered firearms, three hand grenades and at least three motorcycles without plate numbers. The government operatives were armed with 36 search warrants.
A 16-year-old girl was also rescued from among the 38 suspects arrested during the operations conducted by Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency of the Philippines Na-tional Police.
Senior Supt. Vicente Danao said the dead suspects fought it out with the operatives.
“This is what we have all been saying – those who will refuse to surrender peacefully and choose to fight it out with the authorities will run the risk of suffering the fate of the seven people who died,” Danao said in an inter-view with journalists.
The minor, Danao said, is also a victim of one of the suspects, 57-year-old Ferdinand Valencia. He added that her parents could file a child abuse case against the suspect.
The suspects who were killed were identified as Jabal Aboul, Cyril Abinoja, Reynaldo Quindato, Nonoy Tiongco, Marvin Flores Vargas, Jerome Portolazo, and Dodong Quiba.
CIDG Director Benjamin Magalong, who flew to Davao on Tuesday, also commended the operatives involved in the successful operations.
“The operation would have not been that easy and possible had it not been for the support of the local govern-ment unit. We would like to extend our gratitude to Mayor Rodrigo Duterte who willingly extended logistical support to our operatives,” Magalong said.
