HEAVY traffic is expected this weekend as seven major roads in the metropolis will undergo repair work, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
The MMDA said this weekend’s reblocking includes roads in the cities of Mandaluyong, Quezon, Pasay, and Caloocan.
The reblocking started on Friday and will end on Monday, July 1.
The roads to be repaired include: Edsa from Reliance St. to Libertad St. (NB), Mandaluyong City; Along Edsa—A. De Jesus U-Turn Slot before J. Mariano St. (SB,lane 3), Caloocan City; along Edsa between G. De Jesus St. and Malvar St. (NB), Caloocan City.
As well as along Edsa Malibay Bridge to C. Jose St. (NB, 5th lane), Pasay City; along Edsa from Seminary Road to Rena Road (NB, 5th lane), Quezon City; along Edsa from Kaingin Road to Dario Bridge 1 (SB, 3rd lane), QC.
In Commonwealth Ave., road re-blocking activities would be conducted from North Susana to Luzon Ave. (SB, 3rd lane), QC.
The road re-blocking and repair activities at major thoroughfares in the metropolis are on top of the drainage improvement projects that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and contractors are fast tracking despite persistent rains.
To be recalled, the DPWH vowed to hasten their unfinished drainage improvement and road repair projects.
The MMDA has blamed the unfinished projects of DPWH for the sudden flooding in several areas in Metro Manila during heavy rains.
