70 CCTVs to help deter crime in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY: Seventy closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras were installed in strategic places in the Summer Capital as part of its crime prevention and surveillance development plan. Mayor Maurico Domogan said the project is part of the P12 million fund for the city’s quick response capability to any type of situation including crimes and other emergencies. “We are rapidly growing in population, but we have only a few personnel to attend to immediate concerns and the CCTV will greatly help us monitor what is going around the localities,” he said. The command center will be housed at the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) where real-time events and information relating to public safety, security and even disaster preparedness can be monitored. BCPO city director George Daskeo lauded the project saying that it will be a big advantage to the police force.
