77-yr old widow stabbed to death by robbers in Iloilo


A SEVENTY-seven year old lady trader was robbed and stabbed to death by unidentified men on Friday night in a remote village in Iloilo province, police reports said on Saturday.

Reports reaching the Philippine National Police (PNP) National Operations Center in Camp Crame identified the victim as Caridad Marcabebe, a widow, and a resident of Barangay Nagba, Maasin town, Iloilo.

Based on initial investigation, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., director of the Police Regional Office 6, said that the victim was on her way to a nearby town to visit her son when she was robbed. Investigation added that the victim resisted the arrest that’s why the robbers stabbed her 5 times on different parts of her body.

Cruz said that the incident was reported after the victim’s 5-year old granddaughter found her lifeless body in a vacant lot a few meters away from their house.

Based on their investigation, Cruz said that the victim was carrying P40,000 when she robbed.

Police are now conducting follow up investigation to determine the identity of the robbers. ANTHONY VARGAS
